A home for your originals
Browse your iPhone’s library, choose a few favourites or back up everything it exposes over USB. Photos, videos, RAW files and Live Photo companions stay in their original formats.

01 / Original by default
Live Photos retain their still image and motion file. Back up the original bytes without converting files or deleting anything from your iPhone.
02 / Ready for next time
Saved originals are checked before reuse. Return to a backup, reconnect after an interruption, and continue with the files still needed.
03 / A folder of your own
Keep photos and videos together in one folder per iPhone, or group them by year and month. Each iPhone remembers its own destination.
Made with care
Ordinary files in Finder. Clear progress on your Mac. Verification before an original is marked as backed up.
Each saved original is checked for expected size and given a SHA-256 checksum before it counts as backed up. An unavailable original leaves the backup incomplete while other available files can continue.
Recovery records travel with your backup folder. If app data is lost, scan the folder to rebuild verified history. Older folders without records can be checked once against the connected iPhone.
Native controls, keyboard selection, Quick Look and Liquid Glass on supported systems. No companion app to install on your iPhone.
Personal stays personal
CloakRoll works locally over USB. No accounts, analytics or app-operated cloud service. Your photos and videos aren’t uploaded to Cloakyard.
You choose where the originals go. If that folder is managed by a cloud-sync service, its own syncing rules still apply.

The first public beta is being prepared. Published builds and release notes will appear on GitHub.
Beta builds are locally signed and not notarized. Review the release notes and Apple’s opening guide. CloakRoll backs up the media exposed over USB; it cannot guarantee complete coverage of originals stored only in iCloud.
